adminAmong the imported images in the MDC-T manifesto is the picture on the inside of the cover that depicts a South Africa woman planting a tree in Port Elizabeth; the picture on page 19 that shows a train crossing a rail bridge over the Kwai River in Kanchanaburi, Thailand, and African American medical students on page 21 to mention just a few.
Icons of the US map and Supreme Court that adorned the party’s website were hastily removed early Tuesday morning after they drew fierce criticism from members of the public.
Political analysts yesterday said the MDC-T’s obsession with imported images raised questions about the images in the dossiers the party compiles in a bid to soil the country’s human rights record.
Political scientist and Zanu-PF Politburo member Professor Jonathan Moyo said the images proved the MDC-T was a fake political party with nothing to offer the electorate.
“MDC-T is a fake party that uses fake communication to falsify its own image and to falsify the situation in Zimbabwe,” he said.
“When it comes to its own image, it uses fake images like it used in its manifesto to paint a glossy and false picture of itself giving the impression that it is as beautiful as that South African woman and that it is a part of America as shown by importing of pictures of American icons.
“It (MDC-T) communicates all sorts of things which are nevertheless true about itself so MDC-T is not as beautiful as that woman from Port Elizabeth.
“That woman does not represent a new beginning in Zimbabwe.”
Prof Moyo said when it comes to Zimbabwe and Zanu-PF, MDC-T imports pictures that project Zimbabwe as a poor, violent country.
“When it comes to Zimbabwe and Zanu-PF, MDC-T imports ugly pictures of suffering, violence and misery.
“They attribute those pictures to Zanu-PF and Zimbabwe. The even got pictures of xenophobic attacks in South Africa and attributed them to Zanu-PF.
“At one point they even imported pictures of starving children from Somalia and Ethiopia and attributed them to Zimbabwe. “MDC-T is excellent in sex scandals and importing false images about itself, Zanu-PF and Zimbabwe and that is why it is a false party,’’ Prof Moyo said. He said when it comes to the MDC-T, what you look for is not what you get. Mr Goodwine Mureriwa said MDC-T survived on foreign support on everything.
A University of Zimbabwe academic who refused to be named said MDC-T was ideologically bankrupt and could not do anything without external support.
