Yeukai Muchechemera told magistrate Ms Miriam Banda that he is now living in fear of his brother-in-law Charles Motsi.
In this case he desperately needed a peace order against his brother-in-law.
“Your Worship I was married to this man’s sister and she passed away.
“This man wanted to assault me during the funeral and I ran away together with my relatives.
“Now he is coming to my place of residence in the company of other people looking for me.
“I want this court to bar him from visiting my house or work place,” he said.
Responding to his brother-in-law’s allegations Motsi did not contest the relief sought.
He supported Muchechemera’s case.
“Please grant this man the protection order because he needs it,” said Motsi angrily.
“All he said before you is a lie, I never attempted to assault him and I never paid him a visit.
“My sister fell ill and this man refused to pay for his medication.
“We footed thousands of dollars for my sister’s hospital bills and funeral and he is not taking care of his child,” he said.
Ms Banda allowed the application by Muchechemera and granted him the order.
