Mentally ill man in court for murder

Thambulo Sibanda is being charged with murder and was not asked to plead to the charge before Ms Gwineth Drawo who remanded him in custody to December 10.

He is also accused of attacking his sister with stones when he found her mourning their mother after which he torched the now deceased’s hut and fled.

Charges are that Sibanda went to his mother Takalani Ndou (56)’s homestead on Thursday last week and confronted her for bewitching him and staying with his wife.

A heated argument ensued between the two resulting in Sibanda attacking his mother with stones until she became unconscious.

He later set his mother’s hut on fire and fled to his homestead.
It is further alleged that Sibanda’s sister Annah Chinyetere who was in the company of his wife found the mother lying in a pool of blood.

They started wailing and this infuriated Sibanda who went back to the scene and attacked Annah with stones.
Annah managed to escape and reported the matter to the police leading to the man’s arrest.
