In memory of Kubba

THE Negril entertainment scene lost a pivotal figure on June 5 with the death of Clive ‘‘Kubba’’ Pringle, businessman and operator of MXIII Lawn (pictured above).

Pringle (57) had recently suffered a stroke, said his cousin, publicist Ralston Barrett. “It came as a surprise when I got the news from my uncle that he had a stroke. I was later told that he suffered another stroke followed by a massive heart attack,” Barrett told the Jamaica Observer.

In addition to being a show promoter, Pringle was a member of the Negril Resort Board, co-founder of the Negril Cluster and vice-president of the Negril Entertainment Association.

He is probably best known for promoting the Bob Marley Birthday Bash in Negril, starting in 1991.

“Kubba was a very vocal person as it related to issues in Negril and its surroundings. He was a ‘lion-hearted’ person but a very kind and gentle soul. He had a passion for the music and his country,” said Barrett. — Jamaica Observer
