IN OCTOBER, IT WILL BE THE TURN OF THE JAMAICAN STARS TO COME TO TOWN

IT wouldn’t be a summer of entertainment in Zimbabwe without a touch of Jamaican stars.

And, this year, Chris Martin and Busy Signal are coming to headline the Kadoma Music Festival this year.

Both artists have performed in Zimbabwe before.

The festival will be held on October 11 at the Odyssey in Kadoma.

Ten years ago, Busy Signal was here and even took time to visit Matapi flats where he met a number of local dancehall artists at Chillspot Records.

Huge crowds gathered to catch a glimpse of the Jamaican star.

Busy Signal appeared to have fallen in love with the ghetto at first sight.

From Mbare, he was driven to Highfield where he was also greeted by a huge crowd.

“This is our motherland, you are our brothers and sisters and compared to other African countries, this is a totally different vibe, which reminds me of back home in Jamaica,” said Signal.

“I always like to travel, see different places and different things but it’s nice here and this is the origin so I don’t see why I should not come and stay here.”

In October, he will be back ‘home’ for another big show.

The organisers of the Kadoma Music Festival are already feeling the impact of the two Jamaican stars.

They have revealed that some fans appealed to them to spread the festival over two days.

“I understand what some of the people have been suggesting, that we make it a two-day event, but we have just settled on October 11,” said festival founder Tich Maradze.

“We won’t change that because it is straining to make it a two-day event. We will certainly keep it as a one-day event, and we want fans to come in numbers and enjoy themselves.

“It’s an annual event that has become popular with fans, and we want them to enjoy it to the fullest.”

The Kadoma businessman added: “Our wish has always been to make fans happy, and this festival has become a national event.

‘‘If you have been following the trends, you will realise that it is attracting hordes of fans from across the country.

“The festival has also created moments that many people still cherish. We will continue doing our best to make sure fans enjoy themselves.”

He has been grooming his son Prince to enter into the entertainment industry.

Prince said: “After every edition, we take time to listen to comments and fan interest in terms of who they want to see next.

“We are always trying to grow and bring new fans to the event, which is why we explore different genres – something you will definitely see this year. Definitely expect fireworks as always.”

The inclusion of Chris Martin and Busy Signal in this year’s line-up underscores the festival’s growing status.

Chris Martin, known for his smooth vocals and chart-topping hits like “Cheaters Prayer” and “Big Deal,” brings a unique blend of modern reggae and R&B influences to the table.

Busy Signal, a dancehall heavyweight, is renowned for his energetic performances and hits like “Stay So,” “Come Over,” and “One More Night.”
