THE inaugural Zimbabwe Association of Funeral Assurers (ZAFA) conference begins in Gweru today with focus on how to harness opportunities in the sector for economic development.
The banking sector is participating at the three-day conference being attended by representatives from 11 funeral assurance companies.
The Commissioner of Insurance and Pensions, Marnet Mpofu is also expected to attend the conference whose theme is “Raising the standards in economic and social transformation
ZAFA general manager, Taka Svosve said: “All the 11 funeral assurance companies in the country have confirmed participation. We also expect attendance from some of our stakeholders particularly the banks, the funeral services companies and many others”.
Those attending are Ecosure, Nyaradzo Group, Doves, Cell Funeral Assurance, Passion, Foundation Mutual Society, Fidelity Funeral Assurance, Vineyard Funeral Assurance, Sunset Funeral Assurance, Ruvimbo Funeral Assurance, First Funeral Assurance Company and Moonlight Funeral Assurance.
There will be presentations on topical issues affecting the funeral industry and exhibitions of services and products.
“The topics will cover information technology advancement, corporate governance and ethics, micro insurance and investments, risk management and many others that are meant to empower the funeral industry,” said Svosve.
The conference delegates are also expected to discuss how funeral assurance firms can help in economic revival and social transformation.
