KHAMA Billiat will not feature in the Soweto Derby tomorrow after his WORST season in Supa Diski which ended prematurely because of injury.
But, it’s a measure of how the Amakhosi have misfired this season that the Zimbabwe international is still the SECOND best player at Chiefs, when it comes to assists, this season.
Billiat has THREE assists and only trails Keagan Dolly, who leads the way with FOUR assists, this campaign.
But, his THREE assists came in just nine league matches while Golly’s FOUR have come in 19 appearances. The club’s struggles are put into perspective when one considers that TWO of Billiat’s assists came in August last year, in the early phases of the season, in a 3-0 win over Maritzburg United at the FNB Stadium.
During his best season, in Supa Diski, Billiat scored 15 goals and provided 17 assists, in 44 games, during the 2015/2016 campaign. A few weeks ago, Billiat underwent surgery to repair a torn groin muscle.
There is doubt, in some circles, whether Billiat will ever feature for the Amakhosi again. His last game for Chiefs was in the Soweto Derby in October last year with the Glamour Boys winning 1-0.
