Indecent assault: Pastor requests to engage lawyer

Majoni appeared for routine remand before Bulawayo magistrate Mrs Sibonginkosi Mkandla yesterday and indicated he wanted to engage the services of a lawyer.
He also told the court that he was not feeling well because he had not taken his medication since his arrest.
The court then remanded the matter to today.

The State led by Mr Shepherd Nhamburo alleges that Majoni, of House Number 1021 Mbizo, Kwekwe, but running a church in Bulawayo, would visit the girl’s parents’ flat in the city centre where he would meet congregants from his church for prayers.
The pastor reportedly used the bedroom of the complainant’s mother as his prayer room.
The flat is along Herbert Chitepo Street between 8th and 9th Avenues.

The pastor allegedly slept in the bedroom whenever he visited and would share blankets with female congregants.
On one of the occasions, on a date unknown to the prosecutor but in July this year, he visited the complainant’s place of residence.
He reportedly slept in the girl’s mother’s bedroom sharing blankets with a domestic worker and a tenant on a mattress on the floor.

It is not clear where the girl’s mother was on that day when the first incident occurred.
The court heard that the girl woke up from where she was sleeping in the sitting room at about 8am and proceeded to the bedroom where she wanted to leave her blankets.
It is alleged Majoni called the girl to join him in the blankets and she complied.

The court heard that he later on pulled  her to face him and tried to sexually abuse  her.
The girl allegedly tried to awaken the tenant  and the female domestic worker who were in the same blankets with the pastor but without success.
She later allegedly fled to the sitting room leaving Majoni in the bedroom.

On the second count, the court heard that  the pastor came back to the complainant’s  place of residence on another date to conduct prayers.
The girl’s mother was not at home as she had reportedly gone for a pool tournament and she was alone with the tenant.
The pastor reportedly prayed for other congregants and when it was the girl’s  turn at midnight, he reportedly called her to   her mother’s bedroom purporting he wanted to pray for her.

The court heard that when the girl entered  the room she found Majoni sitting on   her mother’s bed covering himself with blankets.
She allegedly sat on a separate bed in the same room and they both started praying.

The court was told that Majoni later invited the girl to join him in the blankets, saying he wanted to give her some herbs to make her strong.
The girl reportedly complied and sat on his   lap, upon which he started caressing her on the back.

Later on Majoni lay on his back and  instructed the little girl to lie on top of him  telling her that if she felt “something hard  like a lump she should press hard on it”, the court was told.
Majoni was reportedly wearing a pair of shorts and a T-shirt.

It is alleged she later told him she was feeling pain due to his erect organ, which she was pressing on, but he allegedly instructed her to press harder.

When he released her, the girl reportedly fled to the sitting room. She did not tell anyone at home until recently when she narrated her ordeal to friends at school who later revealed                    the matter, it is alleged.
