Beer and ladies do not mix. This must have rung true to a 41-year-old gold panner who was confronted by two unidentified men who accused him of going out for a drink with their girlfriends.

As punishment, they allegedly forced him to lick their private parts before they severely stabbed him with an okapi knife. The life-threatening incident happened on Tuesday at Missouri business centre situated along Matobo Road in Gweru.

A bystander who watched the incident unfold said the gold panner was downing wise waters in the company of two women and while they were busy enjoying booze, disaster struck. The bystander said two unidentified males arrived at the drinking place and confronted him, accusing him of entertaining their girlfriends.

“They were seething with anger. They blamed him for drinking beer with their girlfriends and in a fit of rage they grabbed him by his hand, walked him to a dark spot together with the two ladies, and ordered him to lick their private parts. They also stabbed him in the shoulder and twice in the thigh. After that they left with the ladies,” said the bystander.

A source close to investigations said the man was rushed to Gweru Provincial Hospital by a Good Samaritan and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.

Midlands Police Spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident and said: “We would like to urge community members to solve their differences amicably rather than to take the law into their hands as that might lead to an unnecessary loss of life. We are also appealing for information that might lead to the whereabouts of the suspects.”
