But, there have been real wedding incidents that have been downright horrific, enough to mar the bride and the groom’s psyche forever. Here we bring to you some of the wedding celebrations that went horribly wrong.
#1. Angry bride weds

On February 17, 2015, just as Jugal Kishore of Moradabad, was about to garland his bride, Indira of Rampur, the varmala ceremony, Kishore had an epileptic fit, falling to the ground. The bride got so angry that her family had not been informed about Kishore’s medical condition that she married a guest at the wedding, a man called Harpal Singh, who turned out to be her sister’s brother-in-law. When Kishore returned to the venue, he pleaded with Indira, but all was in vain as Indira was already married Harpal.
#2. Bhabhi kisses groom, livid bride walks out of wedding
At the wedding that took place in Aligarh on December 5, 2014, the groom’s bhabhi (sister-in-law) got so excited that her devar (brother-in-law) was tying the knot, that she leapt up and kissed him even as the bride and her family looked on.
When the bhabhi pulled the bridegroom to the dance floor to shake a leg with him, the bride’s family got so angry that they not only beat up members of the baraat, but also held the bridegroom captive.
#3. Cousin shoots bride dead because he felt she had cheated on him
Dr Jaishri Namdeo, 29, was standing with her groom on the stage, in the city of Bhopal, on May 8, 2014, when her cousin, Anurag Singh who had entered the wedding disguised as a photographer, shot her. He then attempted to shoot himself as well, but missed. The crowd overpowered and disarmed the shooter, then beat him violently until the police arrived. Dr Namdeo, a paediatrician, died in hospital from a single wound to the neck. Her husband, Rohit Namdeo, a surgeon, survived the attack.
#4. Crane collapse kills a man and injures bride
In a lavish wedding ceremony held near Ahmedabad in Gujarat, on February 25, 2014, a hydraulic crane had been roped in to lower a ‘crystal platform’ carrying the bride and her sister, into the wedding venue in Adalaj village.
The diamond-shaped platform began dropping at an alarming speed, as the 40-feet crane was parked on an uneven and muddy ground.
As per the plan, the bride was to reach the venue from outside the plot through the crane as she would be showered with flowers, however, the crane suddenly turned to one side and both the occupants fell to the ground.
#5. Spurned lover kills groom at wedding venue
, On January 21, 2013 at Nabanagar near Haslisahar, around 65 km from Kolkata Souvik Dey, 22, and Sunita Sarkar, 20, were getting married after a year-long affair.
Sunita had been in a relationship earlier with Rajib Bose, 28, who could not accept the fact that Sunita was marrying Souvik.
Rajib shot Souvik minutes after he applied the sindoor on Sunita’s forehead
The guests nabbed the shooter and beat him up so bad that he later succumbed to his injuries.
#6. Aamir Khan falls off stage at the wedding of auto driver’s son
Superstar Aamir Khan fell off a dais at a wedding he was attending in Varanasi, on April 26, 2012. I
t was the wedding of the son of an auto-rickshaw driver Ram Lakhan.
The dais collapsed due to overcrowding. There was utter chaos at the wedding, as a huge crowd and media had gathered to get a glimpse of the actor.
While it did become very embarrassing for the veteran actor to fall off in front of such a huge gathering, he simply laughed it off saying the overall arrangement was good.
#7. Groom shot dead at wedding by uncle’s stray bullet
On February 19, 2010, in Delhi Pankaj Kishore Karotia, 21, was just about to take his new bride from the wedding reception to her family home, when his uncle drew his licensed handgun to fire a final shot in the celebrations.
As he was loading it, it fired accidentally and hit his newlywed nephew in the head. The bullet killed the groom instantly. — in.lifestyle.yahoo.com
