Renco Mine, which is arguably the largest gold producer in Masvingo, has been at the centre of a storm of late after wives to hundreds of the mine workers recently staged demonstrations to force management to give their husbands bonuses.
Villagers from the local area also joined the women in the strike.
Technical representative of the Renco Mine workers and villagers, Cde Ivine Dzingirai, on Tuesday said the only available option to break the impasse between villagers and management was for Government to indigenise the mine.
Cde Dzingirai, who is also the legislator in the nearby Chivi South constituency, said villagers did not want to take over the mine but simply wanted a stake after many years of alleged neglect and false promises.
