THE Embassy of Indonesia in Zimbabwe will host a musical night in Bulawayo on Friday (August 21) to celebrate 40 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Dubbed the Indonesia-Zimbabwe Musical Night, the event will bring together Indonesian and Zimbabwean cultures through traditional music, with Indonesian Angklung and Zimbabwean Mbila set to take centre stage.
The evening, to be held at the Rainbow Bulawayo Hotel from 5.30pm to 7.30pm, is expected to showcase the cultural similarities between the two nations while strengthening relations through music and cuisine.
Indonesian Ambassador to Zimbabwe Arief Hidayat and his wife, Judy Arief, are hosting the event, which will also provide guests with an opportunity to experience Indonesian culture and Zimbabwean cuisine.
According to the embassy, the musical evening is designed to highlight the spirit of collaboration and togetherness between Indonesia and Zimbabwe, with the two traditional instruments serving as symbols of harmony.
“The event will celebrate the spirit of Indonesia and Zimbabwe through the enchanting sounds of Indonesian Angklung and Zimbabwean Mbira — as symbols of harmony, collaboration and togetherness as we celebrate 40 years of Indonesia-Zimbabwe relations,” the embassy said.
Guests have been encouraged to attend dressed in smart casual or national attire.
