Thirty-Eight teachers from different schools in Matabeleland North were on Friday presented with certificates in a Sports Orientation at grassroots level course during a function held at Jairos Jiri Centre. The course is meant to develop and promote indoor sports in schools in the province. The graduates will be working hand in hand with professional facilitators from a variety of disciplines in indoor sports.

Pinky Sibanda, one of the directors of the project, said the project’s main purpose was to introduce, develop and nurture indoor sports.
The project will focus on the development of indoor sports like pool, chess and darts, with more sports codes to be introduced.

Sibanda said they brought in professionals from different disciplines who will work hand in hand with the recently graduated teachers in developing indoor sports at  grassroots level.

She said plans were underway to expand the project to other areas in the region once the distribution of necessary material was complete.
