CAPTAINS of industry and business leaders have been urged to draw lessons from the achievements and shortcomings of the National Development Strategy (NDS) 1 and provide input towards the crafting of NDS 2, slated for launch in October.

NDS 2, the country’s second five-year plan, will span from 2026 to 2030, building upon the foundations laid by NDS 1 to achieve the Vision 2030 goals and aspirations .

These goals include transforming Zimbabwe into a prosperous and empowered upper-middle-income society by 2030.

Addressing industry leaders and business persons at an interactive dinner hosted by Mega Market in Mutare, Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Dr Thomas Wushe, remarked: “As the National Development Strategy 1 draws to a close, we reflect on its notable achievements and the groundwork laid for future growth, paving the way for the National Development Strategy 2.

“I earnestly encourage all industry players and business leaders to contribute to the development of NDS 2 by sharing your insights on the issues that require attention.

“This is a unique opportunity for us to collectively shape the final document, making it a truly national product. As President Emmerson Mnangagwa will be launching NDS 2 in October, it is incumbent upon us to take ownership of our country’s development.”
