Zanu PF retains Chipinge RDC Ward 5 seat

ZANU PF has retained the Chipinge Rural District Council Ward 5 seat following a by-election conducted by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) yesterday.

The ruling party’s candidate Cde Humble Singatini emerged victorious after polling 1 748 votes.

Cde Singatini’s closest challenger was Mr Salani Godfrey (Independent candidate) who attained 362 votes, followed by Mr Tinozivei Machana of the National Constitutional Assembly (NCA), who garnered 100 votes.

 

Mr Zvigumi Ndinani of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) had 26 votes.

Ward Election Officer, Mrs Sarudzai Tungamirai officially declared Cde Singatini duly elected as Chipinge RDC Ward 5 councillor.

Mrs Tungamirai said 22 ballots were rejected.

The voter turnout was 50.8 percent of the registered voters.
