Ingwe, ZMA offers dj’ing, sound

In a move to improve the quality of local productions Ingwe Studios and Zimbabwe Music Academy (ZMA) have partnered to offer Sound Engineering and DJ’ing courses from March 1.

One will have to part with $250 for the two-month courses.

Director of Ingwe Studios, Zenzele Ndebele said they were introducing the courses to cater for those who are not necessarily good with academics.

“I’ve come to accept the reality that not everyone is gifted in academics and therefore they should also be afforded the chance to explore other avenues hence the introduction of these courses.

“We’ve also been receiving a lot of requests from people to afford them a chance to learn Sound Engineering and DJing,” said Ndebele.

He said they had the equipment at Ingwe Studios but needed the facilities at ZMA, hence their partnership.

“This is an action oriented initiative that’s all about giving individuals practical and entrepreneurial skills which will enable them to make a living after the completion of these courses,” he said.

Those who enroll for the courses will receive certificates on completion of the courses.

Radio personality, DJ Pamela and writer and poet, Tswarelo are some of those who have undergone training with Ingwe Studios.

Ndebele said the training was timely given the fact that ZBC is working towards digitalising which is going to open up opportunities for those that undergo training.

“More courses like music production and video filming will be added to the curriculum as time goes on,” said Ndebele.
