Injiva bay for tsikamutandaas blood

ENOUGH was enough when the son of a man accused of witchcraft by a tsikamutanda decided to take the fight to the witch-hunters with the backing of the whole community.

Saul Moyo was labelled a witch by a band of goblin hunters who had settled at a homestead in Matopo.

Last week B-Metro carried a story about witch-hunters that had set base at the Zungu familyas compound. After camping there, they went on a fishing expedition in the village which unfortunately touched the wrong guy a Saul Moyo a whose children took offence.

Moyo was accused of exhuming the body of his late nephew and going on to make a goblin out of it.

Bizarre as it sounded, Moyo could not keep it to himself because in the process villagers were being robbed of their livestock (him included).

His son Bhekimpilo Moyo, who is based in South Africa, wasted no time as he made the great trek home in the company of his injiva (people working in South Africa) friends.

Bhekimpilo and his friends saved the day.

a?We are tired of these bogus witch-hunters. They implicated us as witches and tied my husband with a rope. My children were not happy with the issue. They took the matter into their hands,a? said Siphilisiwe Moyo, Saulas wife.

The village head and Chief Masuku both said they instructed the tsikamutanda to leave their community or face the wrath of the community.

a?I ordered them to go but they refused. People will kill them because they are very angry. They rob people of their cattle claiming to bring solutions. They are just magicians who perform gimmicks. After all we are not the ones who invited them,a? said Chief Masuku.

The defiant leader of the band, Lazarus Siziba (ABOVE), visited B-Metro offices to give his side of the story.

He said a?Germany never surrendersa? referring toA his crew. The irony of it is that Germany lost World War 2 from which this saying was coined.

a?A gang of armed injivas want my head. They want to kill me after I found Moyoas goblin on his bed. He killed his nephew three years ago and converted him into a goblin.

a?They have waged a war against me and my escort which comprises 20 young men. They came to the unxiwa (abandoned homestead) where I now stay shouting that they wanted my head. They pelted the house with stones. I hid as they advanced menacingly towards me,a? he said.

Siziba threatened war on the entire village. An eye for an eye is his philosophy.

a?I wonat give up. They may hunt for me but I wonat leave before accomplishing my mission. Those who donat want me to exorcise their goblins will be assaulted by my escort,a? he said.

The chief resolved to take the matter to the police. Zungu, the person who invited the goblin hunters to the area, chased them away from his homestead. However, his phone was not reachable at the time of going to Press.
