Cimas Health Group has opened registration for the third edition of its Healthathon innovation challenge and called on innovators to develop practical digital solutions to improve healthcare access, affordability and service delivery.
Registration for the competition, which is being held under the theme “Reimagining Healthcare Through Disruptive Innovation,” closes on July 12, 2026.
In a statement, Cimas Health Group said the challenge was targeting innovation hubs, start-ups, university technology teams, software developers and independent product innovators with ideas capable of addressing challenges facing Zimbabwe’s healthcare sector.
Participants will be required to develop minimum viable products that respond to problems such as fragmented health data systems, limited access to healthcare services, inadequate preventive healthcare, service delivery inefficiencies and poor patient experience.
“Cimas Health Group has opened registration for Cimas Healthathon 3.0, inviting innovators across the country to develop practical, technology-driven solutions that improve healthcare access, affordability and delivery,” read the statement.
The company said the competition was intended to harness local innovation and accelerate the adoption of digital technologies capable of strengthening Zimbabwe’s healthcare system.
Winning teams will compete for prize money totalling US$7 000, with the overall winner taking home US$3 500. The second and third-placed teams will receive US$2 000 and US$1 500 respectively.
Apart from the cash prizes, finalists will have an opportunity to showcase their innovations and demonstrate how locally developed technologies can help improve healthcare delivery.
Interested innovators have been urged to submit their applications through the Cimas Health Group website and official social media platforms before the closing date.
The Healthathon forms part of Cimas Health Group’s efforts to promote digital innovation and support the development of home-grown technological solutions to address challenges within Zimbabwe’s healthcare sector.
