Insiza South Member of Parliament Cde Spare Sithole has donated roofing and fencing materials to the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) at Filabusi Prison.

Cde Sithole also pledged to drill a solar-powered borehole at the prison’s Escadale Farm to ensure a consistent water supply for agricultural projects, a move expected to move the institution toward full self-sustainability.

The donation includes roofing materials for administrative and cell blocks, alongside 200 metres of fencing material specifically earmarked for the prison farm.

Speaking during the handover ceremony on Friday last week, Cde Sithole said his intervention was motivated by the need to align local development with President Mnangagwa’s national agenda.

“These donations are in line with President Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030 and the philosophy of ‘leaving no one and no place behind.’
“As your representative, it is my duty to ensure that even our correctional facilities have the necessary infrastructure to uphold the dignity of both the officers and the inmates,” said Cde Sithole.

He further emphasised that the development of the farm was crucial for the rehabilitation of prisoners through skills transfer.

“By securing Escadale Farm with fencing and a solar borehole, we are ensuring that the prison can produce its own food.
“This is the essence of collaborative governance—where the ruling party and Government arms work in synergy to accelerate development.

“Government is a product of the elected party, and we must work together to serve the people,” he added.
Acting District Development Coordinator (DDC) for Insiza, Mr Zibusiso Maphosa lauded Cde Sithole for his consistent track record.

“We deeply appreciate Hon Spare Sithole for the good work he has been doing in support of various Government departments.
“His efforts feed directly into the attainment of Vision 2030 goals.

“He is a leader who understands that the burden of development is shared,” Mr Maphosa said.
Mr Maphosa also took the opportunity to call upon heads of various departments including health, education, and security to witness the handover as a testament to Cde Sithole’s integrated approach to community service.

Cde Sithole’s recent philanthropic footprint in Insiza South has been vast.
In addition to the ZPCS donation, he recently installed an electricity transformer in Ward 2, ending years of power challenges for local residents.

The event was attended by various Government officials and community leaders who praised the MP for prioritising the “invisible” sectors of society, such as the prison service, in his developmental roadmap.

Beyond his latest intervention at Filabusi Prison, Cde Sithole’s office has remained a pillar of support for the education sector within the constituency.
He has been actively assisting with the payment of school fees for underprivileged pupils, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder their dreams.

Furthermore, he has provided critical building materials for various local schools, a move that has significantly improved the learning environment for many pupils in Insiza South.

In addressing the perennial challenge of water scarcity, Cde Sithole has embarked on a robust water and sanitation drive.
He has successfully funded the drilling of boreholes in several dry areas across the constituency, providing communities with a reliable source of clean water and reducing the distance women and children travel to fetch the precious liquid.

Recognising the importance of the younger generation, Cde Sithole has also been deeply involved in youth empowerment initiatives.
By funding and facilitating various employment programmes, he has sought to provide local youths with sustainable livelihoods, thereby curbing rural-to-urban migration and protecting them from the scourge of social ills.

These multi-sectoral interventions have earned him widespread praise for his holistic approach to community development.
