THE Insurance Institute Bulawayo chapter will starting from today until Sunday play host to the insurance industry’s sporting event meant to cement ties through sport. According to Charels Mulele, the Bulawayo chapter president, participants will fight it out in 12 sporting disciplines namely soccer, netball, volleyball, table tennis, chess, tug of war, golf, lawn tennis, basketball, darts and pool.

“In line with the constitution governing the Insurance Institute, one of the objectives of the Institute inter-alia,  is to ‘promote and organise meetings, discussions and social activities for the benefit and interest of members’. All logistics for a successful sporting weekend are in place,” said Mulele.

Bulawayo Country Club will play host to golf and lawn tennis with basketball being held at the Bulawayo Club for the Disabled.

“Darts and pool will be held at Raylton Sports Club with the other disciplines set for the National University of Science and Technology (Nust), which is also the main venue,” said Mulele.

The Bulawayo chapter president said the games have been possible through sponsorship from the various insurance companies in their bid to be united in the industry.

There will be prizes galore to the winners and these will be handed over to the participants at a dinner to be held at a local hotel where Megafest Holdings chief executive officer Matsika is expected to deliver a motivational talk.

The draw has been done in three formats starting with Bulawayo clashing with Harare before teams are split into industry specific teams and individual basis.
