Introduce uni-visa systems, says President

Victoria Falls — African governments must facilitate easier movement of people across borders through uni-visa systems to boost intra-continental travel as well as enhance earnings from the tourism sector, President Mugabe said on Sunday. He said this while officially opening the 20th United Nations World Tourism Organisation General Assembly that Zimbabwe is co-hosting with Zambia. He said Africa could only improve its share of global tourism receipts through adopting the open borders concept.

“There is no way Africa can increase its portion of the global tourism cake without first promoting intra-African travel. Connectivity of African cities, regions and attractions augurs well for growing Africa’s share as it serves, ultimately, to integrate the African tourism product, its marketing and promotion,” he said. — New Ziana.
