WOMEN Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development, Monica Mutsvangwa, has called on all stakeholders to invest in empowering women in all the country’s sectors as they are capable of achieving greatness.

Speaking at the International Women’s Day press conference, Minister Mutsvangwa said this year’s celebrations will be held today at Chitora Business Centre in Shurugwi.

The International Women’s Day is a United Nations calendar event celebrated annually on March 8 in all UN states.

The event will be running under the theme “Invest In Women: Accelarate Progress.”

She said investing in women will help them accelarate the development of their communities and the country.

“Women’s participation in all sectors and their ownership and control of productive assets speeds up development, helps overcome poverty, reduces inequalities, maternal and infant mortality and improves children’s nutrition, health, and school attendance.

“When women have equal access to education, employment, and financial resources, economies thrive.

“This is not about dispersing men but to ensure that we move together with men in all sectors in line with key gender policies,” said Minister Mutsvangwa.
