TELONE TARGET STRONG SEASON

TELONE want to make full use of their second coming in the Castle Lager Premiership.

The Gweru-based side were relegated in 2019, after spending just a year in the top-flight league, before bouncing back this season.

Their first test is away at Nyamhunga where they are set to battle ZPC Kariba before hosting Manica Diamonds.

TelOne, who are affectionately known as the WIFI Boys, believe they are in a good position to make a strong statement.

Club president Oscar Nduwure said:

“We have done enough to prepare our boys psychologically for them to be ready on the pitch.

“We don’t want any slips in our first five matches.

“The five matches are going to be important in how we perform going forward.

“But, we understand we are starting with tricky fixtures in our first four games, including one against giants Highlanders.”

He added:

“So, with that in mind, we have to avoid losing games at all costs and let the worst thing be a draw. If we manage that we will be good to go.

“Our target is to be in the top-flight next season so we have to survive relegation.

“As an organisational club, I feel we have done enough to equip our boys as much as what our resources allow us.”

He said the players have already been paid their dues.

“The boys are on TelOne payroll and we don’t expect to have challenges with payments of bonuses and salaries.

“We believe we played our part well.

“The main challenge that remains is the issue of transport and we are looking forward to acquiring our own bus but at the moment we have made provisions to hire.

“So, the welfare of players is well catered for.

“We hope to see a scenario where the boys are the brand ambassadors of TelOne in our communities as we advocate against network vandalism.”
