IPMZ to host annual convention this month

According to the organisers, the main thrust of the conference will be on what human resources can do in terms of adding value to the economy.
IPMZ executive director Ms Fortunate Sekeso said the convention is a networking forum for the HR practitioners and will see its professionals engaging on topical issues in the sector.

“The convention will this year provide a timely and practical set of tools that optimise efficiency and strategic impact.
The conference will focus on evidence-based approach-case studies, grounded in rigorous analysis, backed by a set of leadership competencies that call for courage and business mindedness, and delivers enduring change initiatives and enhanced performance.

“As a nation we are going through a transformation, throughout the country, so we have invited other nations like SA, Zambia, Malawi, Botswana and Namibia to come and discuss with us interesting and informative topics,” said Ms Sekeso.
Other topics to be discussed include managing diversity and equality in the workplace, competence acquisition processes and its impact on HR effectiveness.

Managing HR in quasi-Government organisations, the HR mandate from the captains of industry perspective, the role of HR in managing organisational transformation and business performance and the people effect.

“The forum will look at the role played by the chief executive officers. To this extent we have invited our Namibian counterparts to help us on this topical issue  by sharing their experiences,” she said.

Deputy Prime Minister Professor Arthur Mutambara will officially open the convention and deliver the keynote address on Zimbabwe’s competitiveness in relation to the rest of the world and the implication on the nation and the HR role.

The event will also discuss HR matrices that ensure organisational growth and sustainability on high impact output.
“There will be practical examples in terms of development and a practical stool on human resources in that arena.
“We will also discuss performance of productivity on business and how best people can be productive,” she said. IPMZ’s mandate is grooming leaders for the present and future.
