sculpture from the Chitungwiza Arts Centre, Ambassador Pournajaf said art has no boundaries.
“Art sees no colour, race or language and this is why we say art is a medium of expression and a tool for social cohesion.
“We appreciate greater participating of Zimbabwean artists and those from Iran in bringing out diversity because there is beauty in diversity.
“Art is important in that it is a medium of expression and what we cannot say in words one stone or one painting will say a thousand words,” he said.
Ambassador Pournajaf who described himself as an art enthusiast said art should promote awareness and sharpen the views of the people.
“The deep understanding of art depends on the depth of the art and artists should show their depth through their works.
“Through the Embassy of Iran we are going to see the possibilities of strengthening our bond and what we call unity of being,” Ambassador Pournajaf said.
He said he admired the piece, adding that there was more room for co-operation between Harare and Tehran. “Humanitarian effort is free from sanctions and this is why we are victorious. When I look at this sculpture it symbolises more co-operation in art, culture and expertise between the two countries,” he said.
Presenting the piece, David Huni, who is the business development manager of Gallery Naomi, a marketing partner of Chitungwiza Arts Centre, said the sculpture depicted the friendship that exists between Iran and Zimbabwe.
The piece on springstone shows two figure embracing each other.
“This is an expression of our feelings as Zimbabweans people towards Iranians. We are saying that we are one and together we are victorious,” he said.
