ISLAND Hospice and Healthcare has launched TUMA International, a new professional care companion service aimed at providing trusted home-based medical support for vulnerable patients and their families, particularly Zimbabweans living in the Diaspora.
The new service, which is an extension of Island Hospice’s healthcare services, is expected to provide peace of mind to families seeking professional care for elderly or unwell relatives back home.
In an interview, Island Hospice and Healthcare business development manager Ms Vimbiso Mafuba said the initiative was designed to enhance access to compassionate and professional support services.
“TUMA International is an extension of Island Hospice and Healthcare’s esteemed medical services,” she said.
“It is an exciting new service aimed at enhancing the support we offer to vulnerable patients and their families, ensuring they receive the highest level of compassionate care when they need it most.”
Ms Mafuba said the service targets both local families and Zimbabweans living abroad who need reliable professionals to look after their loved ones.
She said key services under TUMA International include medical errand services such as prescription collection and verification, home environment management involving the setting up of medical equipment, as well as professional caregiving services such as home visits, nursing care and psychosocial support.
Ms Mafuba said the service would go a long way in easing the burden on families separated by distance.
“Individuals in the diaspora who need trusted professionals for elderly or unwell parents and relatives back home here in Zimbabwe can now access our services. Local families can also supplement their own caregiving with expert medical assistance,” she said.
The launch comes at a time when more Zimbabweans living abroad are increasingly seeking dependable care solutions for their families back home.
Prospective clients can access the service through Island Hospice and Healthcare’s communication channels, including WhatsApp, email, Facebook and Instagram.
The development is expected to strengthen home-based healthcare delivery and improve support systems for families caring for vulnerable relatives countrywide.
