Parts of Matabeleland North, Mashonaland West, Manicaland, Mashonaland Central, Harare and Midlands provinces will see isolated showers during cloudy and hot day conditions today and the coming few days, the Meteorological Services Department said yesterday.
Some parts of the country received rains on Tuesday, including Bulawayo Metropolitan, Nyanga, Kariba and Chibero. Zimbabwe has been experiencing isolated thunder showers in different areas.
“The highest rainfall amounts recorded for Tuesday were in Bulawayo Metropolitan and Nyanga (21mm), Kariba (17mm), Chibero (16mm), and Kadoma (14mm),” the Met Department said.
While there is likely to be some rain in the north today, the south of the country is expected to be mostly sunny with mild morning conditions and becoming hot in the afternoon.
Cooler weather, with cloudy conditions and scattered thundershowers could be seen in Matabeleland North, Harare Metropolitan, and the northern parts of the Midlands.
The Met Department urged farmers to consult Agritex officers before embarking on any major activity to enhance their productivity.
“Early planting is only recommended for those with means of irrigation.
“For better advice, please consult your local Agritex officer,” said the department.
Rainfall is still erratic in nature and still widely spaced in time and place.
“Water harvesting is essential whenever possible; please have the requisite means to achieve this. Plan with the weather in mind. Stay weather-ready and climate-smart. Early planting is only recommended for those with means of irrigating,” said the department.
The Met Department urged the public to ensure they stay indoors when thunder roars.
