Italian firms bring new technologies to Harare Agricultural Show

A BUSINESS delegation from leading Italian agro-industrial companies SINT Tecnologie and Agro Tech S & D is in the country to attend the Harare Agricultural Show, which started last Friday. The companies are showcasing the latest agro-processing technologies at the Italian Embassy stand and representatives will hold a series of meetings with stakeholders on the sidelines of the show.

“The Harare Show is a prime platform for local and international companies to interact and establish business ties. For the past two years we have participated in the fair through our official stand.

“This enables Italian companies to explore the Zimbabwean market and helps us to promote the Made in Italy brand, which is known internationally for quality engineering and superior technology,” said Italian Ambassador to Zimbabwe Mr Stefano Moscatelli in an interview recently.

SINT Tecnologie manufactures meat processing equipment. The company is also involved in the construction and installation of abattoirs and meat processing plants. A diversified service provider in the agro-processing sector, SINT also manages development of projects in the sector and provides processing solutions for milk, fish, fruit and vegetables.

Food processing accessories manufacturer Agro Tech S & D, which also provides consultancy and specialist training services for the agro-industrial sector, will be part of the visiting delegation and is set to meet with Government and industry players during the show.

Speaking on the Italian Embassy’s participation at this year’s show, Ambassador Moscatelli said: “Our objective is to showcase the various goods and services that are made in Italy in order to facilitate stronger trade relations between Zimbabwe and our country.”

The Embassy of Italy in Zimbabwe hosts a number of Italian companies at its official pavilion. This year the pavilion was made possible through sponsorship from Guastini Power Srl which will carry out refurbishment work at Hwange Power Station. The leading international industrial holdings group comprises Ansaldo Energia, Ansaldo Sistemi Industriali, Fincantieri and Termomeccanica Pompe.

The stand will also host Italian companies and brands resident in Zimbabwe who are in different sectors including energy, construction, mining, agricultural machinery, motoring and foodstuffs. Salini Costruttori, a global construction company that currently building the Tokwe-Mukorsi Dam in Masvingo province will participate at the fair for the second time. Other exhibitors include Spodale Investments, Afrisun Marketing, Silica Mining Consumables & Agricultural Equipment (official agents for Casella Macchine Agrocole s.r.l., Faresin Industries, Group T.D.M and Rota Guido), Associated Tyres (dealers of Pirelli Tyres), Tarrys (official agents for Landini and Gallignani brands) and Zimoco, the Zimbabwean dealers of top motoring brands Fiat and Alfa Romeo.

The Dante Alighieri Society, the Italian cultural organisation, will also exhibit and disseminate information at the stand.
Italy offers a wide range of business and commercial opportunities as it is an important link for land, sea and air routes that provide a gateway to Europe. The country contributes more than 13 percent of the European Union’s Gross Domestic Product. It is ranked sixth among OECD countries and fourth among European countries in terms of GDP.
