TENNIS administrator and tournament director of the ongoing International Tennis Federation (ITF) J30 Bulawayo, South Central Circuit Zimbabwe Leg One taking place at Bulawayo Country Club, Tarwirwa Raggs Chikunichawa has hailed the event as a good development platform.
Heading into the quarter-finals on Thursday, Chikunichawa said he is pleased with what he has seen so far, especially from local players who have been progressing well.
“We have about 73 players taking part in this event from 12 different countries from Europe, Central Africa and mostly Southern Africa. Just to mention a few, we have some players from the UK, USA, India and Malaysia.
“This is a good development platform for our local players because they get to get an international feel at home and they have progressed very well. That results are beginning to show from the continuous hosting of these events, our players are becoming competitive.
“This has been a good tournament, the level of playing is good, and the quality is ever-increasing and participation as well. The weather has been good and everything is in shape. We are hoping that over the next two weeks we will be having good tennis happening on our front,” he said.
The first leg runs until Saturday.
