ZIM Musicians FC captain, King Shaddy, believes social football has been a game changer in helping to bring artists together.
The team was established four years ago, with the aim of helping to promote peace, among performing artists, particularly Zimdancehall chanters.
The bond they have created has enabled them to bail each other out when skies are grey.
They even urge promoters to include members of their club, whenever it is possible.
Zimdancehall artists have the lion’s share of players in the team.
The team has big names like Shinsoman, Guspy Warrior, Freeman, Nutty O, Ziky, Ex Q, Peter Moyo, Cello Culture, Bamalla, Tee Man (MoutZion), Chilspot Family and Merciless Zim.
Ninja Lipsy, Kadhija and Lady B play the cheerleading role.
They do not have a sponsor, but well-wishers, like Chipaz Promotions, Zim Talent and Muzhizhizhi have often chipped in to help the team, in various ways.
King Shaddy said their social football team was one of the reasons artists now respect each other.
“The team has helped us to live normal lives.
“If you are a public figure, you rarely socialise and it’s not healthy to live such a life.
“We can now exercise through social football and we also get the chance of interacting with fans, but on a different stage.
“It has also promoted peace and love among ourselves.
“When you play as a team, you will be fighting for each other and we have taken that team spirit to our music industry” said King Shaddy
He said they also conduct meetings before training to address musical disputes.
They travel around the country to face various opponentsKing Shaddy said every artist was free to join the club.
