THE producer of Alkebulan: The Garden of Eden, Tariro Washe, says the film is a powerful story of Africa by Africans.
Alkebulan, which showcases the beauty, richness and history of Africa, features talent from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Senegal, Rwanda, Nigeria and Uganda.
Superstar Jah Prayzah will feature in the movie, which is set to hit the cinemas on September 27.
“This was the birth of the journey of what is now Alkebulan for us to reshape and take back our narratives and show Africa that we have a rich heritage, we have rich stories that the world wants to see, they are longing for authentic African stories told by Africans.
“Our film features talent from seven African countries – South Africa, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Senegal, Rwanda, Nigeria and Uganda.
“This collaboration embodies the spirit of Pan-Africanism and showcases the richness of our cultures.”
The story follows a young woman’s quest to reclaim her identity amid the shadows of colonialism and societal expectations.
With the guidance of her ancestors, and the support of her community, she uncovers the hidden truths of her heritage, forming deep connections with others along the way
Alkebulan is about reclaiming the identity, heritage and the pride of the continent.
It is about falling in love with Africa all over again and embracing the beauty and richness of the continent.
