OUR photographer, Lee Maidza, always has a ringside seat at domestic Premiership matches.
Maidza covers both the Premiership and Division One games.
He was on duty at the Heart Stadium on Saturday when Yadah hosted TelOne in a Castle Lager Premiership game.
In the second half, with the Miracle Boys searching for an equaliser, Maidza’s lenses picked an incident, in the penalty area, which caught his attention.
He captured the moment, a tackle from a TelOne defender which sent his opponent sprawling onto the turf.
Maidza’s verdict was firm.
“Clear penalty,” he said.
“The defender did not touch the ball and brought down his opponent.
“That was a very clear penalty.”
Unfortunately for Yadah, Maidza was not the referee. He was just a photographer covering the match.
The referee ignored the incident, to the disappointment of the Miracle Boys.
Yadah coach Thomas Ruzive, whose side has now lost two games on the bounce, will reflect on that moment and wonder what could have been had they been given the spot kick.
There is no guarantee that they would have scored from the penalty.
But, it could have been a game-changing moment had they equalised given that it was likely to demoralise the visitors.
Ruzive must also be wondering what would have been the case had their talisman Khama Billiat played in this game.
The former Warriors star was ruled out of the match with a flu bug.
It was a very late call and his name remained among his team’s substitutes even though he was not sitting on the bench.
