It’s all about timing: Benjani

From Solomon Mutasa in JOHANNESBURG, South Africa
FORMER Zimbabwe national soccer team captain Benjani Mwaruwari hinted that might end his career at Johannesburg-based Absa Premiership side Bidvest Wits after he headlined the city as “second home” to his motherland. Benjani, now 35, expressed his thoughts on the sidelines of the first ever Barclays Premier League Fan Experience show recently experienced at the heart of the economic hub of South Africa.

The former Jomo Cosmos and Manchester City goal poacher represented Zimbabwean players, who got the chance to showcase their trade in the English Premiership, with his presence at the upmarket fun-filled Zoo Lake location, that was the first of its kind on the southern hemisphere.

Mwaruwari indicated that he sees himself being involved with the Zimbabwe national team one day at a technical level as swansong to his lucrative football career.

“South Africa is my second home, for me to be here I see it as a motivation for young players to come here and play this side. I’m very blessed that I’m here and the team is seemingly doing well.

“Apart from my personal performances, you know I have not played much through the season but I’m not pushing for that. I can say the future of football at Wits is very bright with so many youngsters coming through to challenge to play,” he said.
