LAKE Harvest coach, Pearson Matare, says they now have a tough task to try and avoid relegation in the World Navi Northern Region Division One soccer league.
They lost 0-1 to Flame Lily in their backyard on Saturday.
The Kariba side are not safe from the axe.
They are currently 12th on the log table with 39 points, the same as ZRP Morris, but they are ahead because of a superior goal difference.
They join ZRP Morris, Seven Flames and Blue Swallows in fighting relegation.
Royal Classic, Twalumba and Chegutu Pirates have already been relegated and, at least, three more teams will join them at the end of the season.
And Matare believes they need to improve to remain in Division One.
“We played against a team that was more prepared than us but we did our best,” said Matare.
“They really showed that they want to win the title and we don’t have any complain.
“It’s unfortunate because if we had won we would have increased our chances of survival.”
Matare said they have some tough matches ahead against third-placed Mushowani and Blue Swallows, who are also fighting relegation, and desperately need the six points.
“We are going to Madziva for a game against Mushowani and it’s not going to be easy but we have to, at least, get a point there.
“I know they would want to beat us.
“Hopefully, if we beat Blue Swallows and the other teams don’t win we can survive. We should have done this on our own and not to rely on other teams’ results,” said Matare.
Meanwhile, Commando coach, Wilson Kabango ,said they were now targeting a top eight finish after suffering their fourth consecutive defeat on Saturday.
Commando lost 0-2 to Mushowani.
“We did our best but we were unlucky. Mushowani, on the other hand, did well and now we won’t meet the top five target but in soccer that happens.
“We are trying to win in the remaining two games hoping the rough patch will come to pass and we are now fighting for the top eight.
“We are trying by all means to boost the guys’ morale and make them believe that we can win again,” said Kabango.
Although they lost, the army side remained seventh on the table with 45 points.
