FORMER Highlanders and CAPS United striker, Gabriel Nyoni, says life is never an easy ride and betrayal can come from all corners − including family members.
Nyoni is based in South Africa where another former Zimbabwean footballer, Tendai Ndoro, was based.
Ndoro died in South Africa.
His body was found in a Sandton apartment on Monday with some reports suggesting he had passed away a couple of days earlier.
H-Metro reported yesterday that he died a bitter and lonely man.
Nyoni said:
“Life is never as straightforward as we hope, especially for a footballer or a man. You marry, seeking love and stability, yet betrayal can turn that dream into loss.
“You stay single, and your hard-earned fortune may fade away once you are gone.
“You trust family, yet sometimes blood can wound deeper than strangers. The real test is not just in making money, but in guarding it against the unpredictable nature of life.
“That’s why the wisest path is to secure everything in a Trust − where your legacy stands safe, beyond emotions, beyond betrayal,” he wrote.
He had earlier posted:
“Farewell Tendai Ndoro. A warrior on the field, a soul off it. Football loses a star, but heaven gains one.”
Meanwhile, former players who played alongside Ndoro say his death has left a big void which will be difficult to fill.
Milton Nicube, the former Highlanders player who is now based in the United Kingdom, was among mourners gathered at number 1976 Nketa 8 to pay their last respects.
“We played together and, honestly, it is a big loss, not only to the family. We played together back before my stint at Highlanders and we were close,” Ncube said.
Ndoro, who was a twin to Takudzwa, who is now based in Botswana, is considered a rare gem to ever come out of Nketa, as narrated by his childhood coach Joseph Nkomazana.
“I started training Tendai at a tender age and he went through my ranks. We have lost as the football fraternity. He was a torchbearer for the suburb.”
The Ndoro family is now seized with repatriation efforts, working with the football fraternity across the Limpopo.
His father, Mutandwa Silas Mukundwa, says details of how he died were still sketchy.
“We got a call that he was found dead in his apartment and we are still to ascertain the cause but, as we speak, a meeting is underway in South Africa to repatriate his body.”
Ndoro leaves behind three children Laiza, Christiano and Mukundi.
His body has been taken to Zororo-Phumulani funeral parlour where a funeral service will be held − Sports Reporter/ZBC.
