It’s not yet over

Pauline Matanda

“BUT David replied to the Philistine, ‘You are coming against me with sword and spear and javelin. But I am coming against you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of Heaven’s armies, whom you have defied.

“This very day, the Lord will deliver you into my hand! I will strike you down and cut off your head. This day I will give the corpses of the Philistine army to the birds of the sky and the wild animals of the land. Then all the land will realise that Israel has a God, and all this assembly will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves! For the battle is the Lord’s and he will deliver you into our hand.’

“The Philistine drew steadily closer to David to attack him, while David quickly ran toward the battle line to attack the Philistine.

“David reached his hand into the bag and took out a stone. He slung it, striking the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank deeply into his forehead, and he fell down with his face to the ground.

“David prevailed over the Philistine with just the sling and the stone. He struck down the Philistine and killed him. David did not even have a sword in his hand.” — 1 Samuel 17:45-50

As we are about to end the year 2023, you may be looking at your resolutions to see what has come to pass and what has not.

These days I hear a lot of people saying it is pointless to pen resolutions as years come and pass without having any of them accomplished.

But between now and December 31, a lot can happen. To you, this year might have been a “Goliath”, mocking you in different ways. However, behold, by faith, “Goliath” will be a thing of the past.

Just like the Israelites for 40 days, Goliath challenged them to fight, but no one had the courage to face him until David came through in the name of the Lord.

In our lives, we face “Goliath” too. The Goliath we face can be in the form of temptations, trials and tribulations.

The Goliath can also be in the form of challenges at work and at home (in families), health issues — illnesses (mental or physical) and financial hurdles.

You may face enemies of your destiny, but God will fight them. The battle is not yours but the Lord’s.

If we put our faith in God, “Goliath” will be dealt with by a small “David”, who is fully backed by the God of Heaven.

He who is in you is greater than the one in the world. Victory is certain; we are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus.

I declare victory over you in the name of Jesus! Between now and December 31, a lot will happen.
