IT now looks like it’s now Simba Bhora’s title to LOSE.
On a day when their main rivals – Ngezi Platinum and FC Platinum – both dropped points after drawing their away matches, Tonderai Ndiraya’s men found a way to keep their winning momentum going.
This was supposed to be tricky match, against a side which knows how to beat them here in Shamva, having done so when they were rivals in Division One.
But, this is a different Simba Bhora and, despite all the controversy related to their abandoned Chibuku Super Cup game against Highlanders on Sunday, they kept their eyes on the ball on their return to action.
Other sides would have wilted under all the controversy which dominated headlines this week but Ndiraya’s men went about their business in a very professional way.
Capitalising on their height, structure and fitness Simba were the better side in this duel and went ahead when Ishmael Nyanhi headed home, a curling cross from Walter Musona, into the bottom corner of goal.
By the break, the hosts – who are unbeaten in the league in their fortress – doubled their lead in style.
Some fine exchanges opened a path for the hosts and Mthokozisi Msebe was on hand to extend their advantage with the insurance goal.
Pirates emerged from the break a better side but they could not recover from the damage inflicted in the first half.
“A good result. The boys put on a good performance,” said Ndiraya.
“I credit the boys for keeping another clean sheet but we need to focus more on getting results.
“The race is not over yet. There are still seven games to go and anything can happen along the way.”
Pirates coach, Maxwell Takaendesa Jongwe, also believes the race for the league title is still on and he will save Zaire from going down.
“We are still in the Premier until we are mathematically out. We only need to win games for us to remain in the league. There are still 21 points to fight for”
