HIGHLANDERS coach, Baltmar Brito, conceded that his team didn’t play as well as he would have wanted but their focus was now on getting the positive results.
Bosso edged an impressive Black Rhinos 1-0 in a Castle Lager Premiership match at the National Sports Stadium on Saturday.
“It’s good that we collected three points on the road and we are now focusing on getting better results,” said Brito.
“It’s a game of football where you sometimes play well and sometimes not but what is important is to ensure that we win, which is what we did.
“We didn’t do well in the first half and we did analyse this during half-time and our players understood that very well and we won.”
He added.
“The players are starting to understand the philosophy and style of play we want to implement and we are very happy with that.
“We will try to take each game as it comes and try to win as many as possible.
“It was a very good game between two teams who wanted to win.
“It’s good we won the game on the road and it’s an important victory for us.”
Chauya Chipembere coach, Stanford “Stix” Mutizwa, hailed his men and as he highlighted that for most of them, it was their first time to play against Bosso.
“We played very well, we were playing one of the big five teams in the country and for some of the players, it was their first time playing Highlanders and I’m happy with the way they played,” said Mutizwa.
“We lost several players which we had last season, as you can see, we are in a rebuilding exercise but already I’m pleased with the attitude which the boys are showing.
“They have responded better than what I had expected and we were just unfortunate to lose but I have confidence in these boys in our next assignments.”
Rhinos won their first match of the season with the same scoreline against Cranborne Bullets.
Bosso developmental side graduate, McKinnon Mushore, scored his team’s first goal of the season to help them collect their first full set of three points.
He netted in the 58th minute from a rebound after Black Rhinos goalkeeper Onismo Matava had saved Lynoth Chikuhwa’s attempt..
But, it was a loss the army side’s youthful team didn’t deserve.
Midfielder Nelson Mwasanga was a handful for Bosso’s defence.
