THE annual Zim Link Up event set for April 30 in Birmingham, UK, has drawn top local top acts. This year, the event will be held for two days with the other gig set for May 1, in the same city.
The event that is celebrating its seventh anniversary this year will feature five mainstream acts, among them Ex Q and Nutty O, who are making a return after having performed at the event last year.
Completing the line up is Freeman, Takura and Killer T, who are making debut appearances at the show. All artists will be backed with live bands.
In an interview with H- Metro, Nutty O said:
“I am glad to be performing at the Zim Link Up again after having performed there last year.
“People attending the event can expect nothing less than an ability extension.
“Making a return to Zim Link Up really means a lot because the return is based on people’s request.
“We are building a new culture for both the Zimbabwean diaspora and the world at large.
“We are also setting a platform for Zimbabwean creatives to showcase their intention to globalise their craft, in this instance musically.”
Show organiser Kivo Santana said: “We’re excited to have last year’s artists joining us again, in 2022 we took the event to two cities, Birmingham and Manchester, selling out both shows.
‘‘Several people are excited about the event and this year’s demand is record-breaking due to the strength of the brand. The Zim Link Up brand has grown from just a small club event to now being a full blown concert brand, which will propel not only the artists but Zimbabwean music to the world stage. “This year we have taken the event to a world-class venue, Forum, in Birmingham. This is the same venue where we hosted Davido, Uncle Waffles and Dj Maphorisa in 2022. All the artists will be supported by a live band, we can confirm the following bands are joining us: HKD Band, Hot Property Band and Shabach The Band.
