IVAN Hoe caretaker coach Ali Banda got off to a flying start with a 1-0 win over Sheasham in a Zimbabwe General Medical Aid Fund Central Soccer League match at Amaveni Stadium in Kwekwe.
The hosts scored through a Farai Mususunye strike in the second minute after benefitting from some sloppy marking in the box.
Ivan Hoe went into the match after firing coach Julius Chakupewa following a string of poor results.
Chakupewa has been replaced by Isaac Nyabvure, who is set to start work today.
Sheasham have played four consecutive away matches since a 2–0 win over FC Lesaffre and slid into fifth position with 11 points. They need a win over MSU to keep within shouting distance of the early pace setters led by Whawha with 14 points, but were inactive at the weekend.
Sheasham head coach Jeremiah Neganda said: “It is always difficult to be playing away from home and more so if you have to play four games under difficult circumstances. It sort of takes the confidence away from the players and it is during this time that you need home games and a win to boost your confidence.”
“We are going back to the drawing board and our next game is at Mkoba where we are looking at nothing short of maximum points so that our campaign remains on course.”
