THE case of two suspects accused of illegal possession of ivory is now in motion at the Bulawayo Magistrate’s Court at Tredgold Building.

Charges are being read to them.

Jonathan Mkwebu (33) and Brilliant Mkosana (39) were apprehended by an all-female CID Homicide crack team code-named Lozikeyi.

The pair is accused of illegally possessing ivory worth more than US$6 000.

They have been advised to respond to the allegations for the prosecution to follow through.

Admitting to the charges, the duo plead for mercy, saying they were not aware of the legality involved in the transportation and possession of ivory.

The pair was arrested at Chiefs Sports Club on 10 July.

Mkwebu and Mkosana are being represented by Mr Tinashe Dzipe of Morris-Davis Company.

He says he was handling another case in a different court and requires time to talk to the duo.

The case has been adjourned to 2:15 pm
