A BULAWAYO social club, Izinsizwa, will tomorrow hold a four-team football tournament at Milton High School as part of commemorations to remember their departed friends.
The football fiesta will also feature Nust, Isigubhu and Ascot-based Amavevane who are the pioneers of such an important cultural and sentimental initiative.
According to Thabani Ncube, Izinsizwa’s non-playing captain, a draw will be made prior to the start of the tournament with winners set to clash in the final whose winner will be awarded a goat and a shield.
“We organised this tournament on voluntary basis. It is meant to remember our fallen friends who have been part of Izinsizwa and in order to give them a befitting commemoration we will also have a disco and a braai,” said Ncube.
Izinsizwa, who will be powered by media personalities among them Hilton Mavise, Moffart Phiri, Makhosi Sibanda and Nkosilathi Moyo, will be hoping to land the big prize but are obviously worried about their old nemesis Amavevane who have stocky
Clifford Ncube, Justice Dube, Methuseli Mafu, Sizabantu Khoza, Gladwin Jaravani, Siza Dube as well as the hard running but wasteful Derrick “Balotelli” Gijima among other players.
The four teams taking part in tomorrow’s tournament all play in the Golden Oldies Social Soccer League, arguably the best run social football league in Bulawayo.
