INFORMATION, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister, Monica Mutsvangwa, has hailed Jacqueline Muchanyuka-Mgido for the amazing progress she has made in her career.

The make-up artist has scaled the ladder to even venture into Hollywood where she has worked with some of the world’s A-List stars.

Muchanyuka-Mgido hosted a fiesta-themed private luncheon at her Vault Studios in Arundel, Harare, for women in business and those making a difference.

The luncheon was part of her Women’s Month celebrations.

Minister Mutsvangwa said her Ministry had taken deliberate steps to create platforms that promote gender equality.

“We now have a number of female directors, and female editors and owners of the media, and we are so proud of it,” the Minister said in a speech read on her behalf by Dr Nanette Silikuni, the director of strategic planning policy monitoring and evaluation in the Ministry.

“I am told that the owner of Vault Cosmetics, Jacqueline Muchanyuka-Mgido, is one of the first African make-up artists to have worked with Hollywood stars like Sylvester Stallone, Snoop Dogg and Jamie Foxx, just to name a few.

“Eleven years ago, she decided to start the first Zimbabwean inspired make-up line with a philosophy to educate women and create an industry that provides lifelong skills that can be used anywhere in the world.

“Jacque has given other female entrepreneurs inspiration to start their own businesses because she is a Zimbabwean woman like them,” she said.

Businesswoman Zodwa Mkandla spoke about how Jacque has been empowering women and creating job opportunities for young Zimbabwean women.

“There are so many young ladies who have gone through her hands who are doing amazing things here in Zimbabwe.

“A number of Zimbabwe’s prominent make-up artists like Deliwe and Tsungi came through Jacque.

“When you start a brand, you must always be there.

“Visibility is very important and it’s not only about advertising, you have to be physically there,” said Mkandla.

The luncheon was attended by several businesswomen such as Sharon James of Style Cabin, Grace Sithole, Josephine Soko of Imani Africanique, Mutsa Mwale of Strictly Chic, Portia Songore of Finter Management, Noma of the Dhuku Affair and the Pad Drive, Charmaine Muchanyuka, Tariro Gezi, Monalisa from ZiFM, and Daisy of Daisy’s Peanut Butter, among others.
