JAD ENOUGH

JADON SANCHO has proved to be a very costly mistake since signing for Manchester United.

By the end of the current season, the winger would have spent the same amount of time out on loan from the Red Devils than at the club.

Sancho, 25, is into his third loan spell away from United, having joined Aston Villa in the summer. Last season saw the star loaned to Chelsea and win the Conference League but the Blues were not convinced to make the move permanent.

His first loan was back in 2024 when he re-joined Borussia Dortmund for the remainder of the season.

Sancho cost United a staggering £73million when he first signed from the Bundesliga outfit in 2021.

But that is just a portion of the sum the former Manchester City academy prospect has cost the Red Devils.

He played 83 times for the club, scoring 12 times and providing just six assists.

Sancho managed that while pocketing a staggering £250,000-a-week, although that figure will have reduced when United failed to qualify for the Champions League.

United still had to pay a £17m instalment to Dortmund last summer as confirmed by Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

This has taken the total expenditure for Sancho by United, who have had part of his wages covered while on loan, to around £100m.

United did manage to claw back £5m of that money thanks to a loan fee from Chelsea.

Sancho’s contract at Old Trafford is set to expire this summer and it is not thought he will be offered an extension.

The winger was linked with a move to Serie A last summer but his transfer to Roma fell through leading to his loan to Villa.

Since making the move to the West Midlands, Sancho has made 28 appearances and scored one goal.

Sancho arrived at United after impressing at Dortmund, in which he boasted a brilliant goals and assists record despite his young age.

During his first four years in Germany, he racked up over 50 goals and 50 assists.

Sky Germany have claimed that Dortmund could consider a third swoop for Sancho this summer.

The club are set to lose star Julian Brandt on a free transfer with his contract set to end, so Sancho could be a suitable replacement. The Sun
