GOVERNMENT say well-meaning sports academies that are safeguarding and transforming communities like Jadel Football Academy deserve full support from individuals and corporates to always ensure society becomes a better place.
Jadel FA, which was founded by former Young Warriors star Walter “Ringers” Musanhu in Beijing, China in 2019 have built their reputation over the past seven years in which they have established several centres in 23 countries across the world, including Zimbabwe.
The nursery has also adopted tens of kids in Harare’s high-density suburb of Mbare, whom they have put on scholarship after taking them off the streets where they were milling around after dropping out of school.
And the Minister of Youth Development, Empowerment and Vocational Training, Tino Machakaire, who is playing a leading role in ensuring the youths get decent education and shun societal ills, said Jadel FA is a standard bearer whose work should be emulated by all.
“Well, let me say Jadel Football Academy is a good example of what grassroots development models should look like,” said Machakaire.
“This academy is more than just football development. From the model they are using, we are seeing a holistic approach whereby kids develop as a person, to become an ideal adult when they grow up.
“It’s never about football only; it’s more than that. This is quite exemplary, to say the least. Just picture a former footballer going out of his way to take kids off the streets, put them in class, and get them to play football.
“As Government, we are currently seized with the need to have a drug-free society, and I should say academies like Jadel FA are playing big roles in complementing our efforts to eradicate social ills. “Just imagine if we could have more and more academies like this one doing so much in helping out our efforts.”
Jadel FA are preparing to participate in the annual Beijing 100 Teams International tournament in China next month.
