laughed off recent comments made by Will, who claimed he had reluctantly accepted that their son wanted to be freed from their legal guardianship so he could move into his own house on his 15th birthday in July.
In a joint interview with his father on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ on Wednesday), the ‘After Earth’ star said: “See, here’s the thing that you need to understand: I’m not going anywhere.
“The thing that people don’t get is everything at this house is free! So I can get anything and everything at his house, so I’m going to be there 20, 30 more years.”
The “Karate Kid” star also joked that Will said he can only move out when he becomes hugely successful.
He said: “I think I made a joke in Tokyo. I mean . . . my baby boy, he’s never leaving me, ever. No emancipation for the Smith kids.”
He explained: “He says, ‘Dad, I want to be emancipated,’ I know if we do this, he can be an emancipated minor, because he really wants to have his own place.” — Sowetan.
