British Police had to be called in to protect the singer after fans bayed for his blood.
“Why did you hire promoters from Mbare?” angry folks shouted at the singer with broken bottles in their hands.
Even women braced themselves for war at the Starlite De Venue. The commotion at end of the show erupted as fans broke up in anger because the singer only performed from 2am to 4am instead of 10pm the day before.
For four hours, fans had been kept entertained by a DJ instead of Jah Prayzah. It was not clear what caused the delay but it is believed the sound system was not complete at the beginning of the show.
The show actually started only at 0207 hours on Sunday. Fans were shocked to see several men march into the building holding large speakers on Sunday morning and performing tests in front of the waiting crowd. But was it Jah Prayzah’s fault or rather the promoter’s?
A lady who is wife to the DJ who brought in the second sound system said they received a phone call way after the actual show had started requesting them to bring in their system. They had to wake up and assemble their PA and drive to Leicester which is about 45 minutes away.
When they arrived at the venue, ZimEye requested information and were told the second sound system had been called in to boost the current one. But the time could not be adjusted any further than 4am and the promoters failed to give an apology on time.
As Jah Prayzah left the stage at 4am, fights broke up outside as fans jostled for answers from the artiste who had to be driven off at top speed with people vying for his blood. — ZimEye.
