Ex-BBC football commentator Stuart Hall admitted 12 indecent assaults on girls aged nine to 17 over 18 years last week and was labelled an “opportunistic predator”.
Talking to the Daily Star, Peter Saunders, of the National Association for People Abused in Childhood, said: “Jeremy Clarkson is well-known for coming out with real nonsense like this.
“I don’t think he realises the seriousness of the issue he is making fun of.
He added: “If Stuart Hall or somebody of his ilk had got his hands on one of Jeremy Clarkson’s relatives, he might think twice.”
A “free-standing investigation” into how broadcaster Stuart Hall was able to abuse girls while working at the BBC has been announced by the corporation.
News reports have claimed fellow BBC staff may have helped Hall gain access to victims while he was working at the corporation.
On Sunday, BBC Trust chairman Lord Patten said the claims were “appalling” and would be addressed by Dame Janet’s ongoing inquiry.
But this isn’t the first time that Clarkson has found himself in trouble on Twitter, where he has 1,7 million followers.
