Top musician Jah Prayzah has firmly established himself among the elite league of music stars.
With remarkable ease, he continues to shatter records, attracting diverse crowds that follow him like a devoted shadow.
Nowadays, everything he touches seems to turn to gold.
The 38-year-old showcased his exceptional talent and growing appeal on Saturday at the Harare International Conference Centre, where he concluded his much-anticipated “Ndini Mukudzeyi World Tour.”
From his attire and choreography to his engaging stage presence, he delivered a flawless performance.
Even when faced with technical sound issues, Jah Prayzah adeptly improvised, ensuring that his show lived up to all expectations.
For the greater part of the second half of the year, the “Ndini Mukudzeyi World Tour” took him overseas, captivating large audiences wherever he went.
Additionally, he demonstrated his commitment to nurturing upcoming artistes by featuring them during his performance last weekend.
These included Culture Love, Chillmaster, Seh Calaz, Tamy Moyo, Malloti, Young Gemini and Tocky Vibes, among others.
For most of these youthful musicians, it was a marvel to be part of Jah Prayzah’s show.
After all, who doesn’t want to hang out with the “big boys” of the creative sector?
Backed by a reliable band of stars, Jah Prayzah’s job was made easier from start to finish.
It was evident that the multiple award winner had come prepared, as he churned out hit after hit.
The big moment came as he belted out the track “Ruzhowa,” a contender for Song of the Year.
The track, which resembles a parent’s prayer to God to look after their children, has become popular with fans.
It was also clear that many people wanted to watch him play this track, as they walked out shortly after he finished.
It resonates well with everyone who has kids or is a guardian. In his case, Jah Prayzah is not only a family man but also a significant brand that continues to give hope to millions of fans in despair.
His manager, Keen Mushapaidze, was humbled by the large crowd they received.
As with most of their shows, fans were turned away since it was a sold-out gig. “Words are not enough to express how grateful we are as a team,” he stressed. “I don’t have time-lines to explain how long we take to market this event, but there was a lot of aggressive marketing involved.
“It came out the way we wanted, and we are grateful to all the stakeholders who played a role.”
On a night that attracted a multi-racial crowd, Mushapaidze was also impressed by the strides they took to win the hearts of many.
“It shows the power of music, that we can unite people from various races. There were also some people who came from overseas for this particular show, and we are humbled by the amount of support and faith they are showing us,” he pointed out.
He also hailed the supporting acts who gave their all at the event.
“To be honest, this was an epic night, and we are glad that all the stars on the line-up did not disappoint us. It was a night to remember, and we are pleased that it came out well. There is power in collaboration, and that was shown tonight.”
Among the supporting acts, Tamy Moyo was outstanding as she invested a lot in her stage presence.
With 14 dancers on stage, the songbird takes her job seriously.
Elegant in beautiful costumes, Tamy’s dancers made it easier.
Not to be outdone was Seh Calaz, who came well-prepared for this event.
His counterpart, Tocky Vibes, also proved his critics wrong by showing he was determined to make an impression in showbiz.
Buoyed by a rich catalogue of songs, the lanky performer and wordsmith received a rapturous reception as fans showed him love.
He showed character and courage, proving that he still has the mojo despite his recent monumental flop. He recorded a low turned out for his album launch held at Alexandra Park in Harare.
For a man who lost US$25 000 after the aborted album launch, it speaks volumes that he could pick himself up and move on.
In short, Tocky is not only a fighter, but a focused man.
Zim dancehall starlet Malloti — real name Millicent Chimonyo — featured at the show. Known for her loose tongue on social media, there were fears that she would bring her antics to HICC.
This time, she behaved well, although fans were blown away as she played the song “Fadza Madzimai.”
“She can perform better despite her love for vulgarity on social media. Tonight she was a different person altogether, and we are glad that she simply delivered and lived up to her promise not to say any vulgar words,” said a female reveller who calls herself Mamoyo.
Chill Master had a good day in the office along with local wheel-spinners on the line-up.
