EMMANUEL Jalai is already eyeing silverware in his first season at South African Premiership side Durban City.
After helping Zimbabwe lift the Mukuru Four Nations Cup in Botswana, Jalai returned to club duty and powered his side to a Nedbank Cup final.
Speaking to Zimpapers Sports Hub yesterday, Jalai said the constant pressure of high-stake matches has only accelerated his growth.
“Every day is a new challenge, but it is also an opportunity to grow further and develop as an individual,” said Jalai.
“That has been the story for me. I have been allowing myself to continue learning on both facets, defensively and mentally, and trying to improve my game with every session.”
Jalai was quick to credit his new environment for his rapid transition.
“The trust and support I have received here at Durban City have been incredible, from my fellow teammates and the entire technical team,” he said.
“Everything has been a process. And that process always shows itself in the performance on the pitch.
“As a player, you want to be competitive. You want to be in a position to play against anyone and manage to grind out positive results.
“If we can do that collectively as a team, then we will be in a position to win some trophies and establish ourselves as a serious contender in every match that we play.”
